How Did Sonic Get His Green Eyes?

Appearance – Sonic is a short anthropomorphic hedgehog with long quills on the back of his head, two large conjoined eyeballs, a round belly with two short quill spines on his back, and a short tail. He has got blue fur that covers most of his body, and peach skin on his belly, muzzle and arms.
Why are modern Sonic’s eyes green?
Why Sonic has Green Eyes I assure you, this is NOT click bait. Over the course of many years, something has always bothered me. Sonic’s green eyes. NOW NOW GUYS! I’m not one of those people who think the green eyes are a bad thing. I’m just wondering where they came from.
- With that said, Sonic Generations solidified the fact Sonic used to have black eyes, and black eyes only.
- With that said, my first trail led me to believe there was an outside cause, not Sonic just growing up.
- That’s not an option, because Sonic hasn’t aged AT ALL.
- Unless you believe in the original Japanese continuity, than I guess I can’t put up much of an argument, as the original story lines has Sonic ten years old.
With that said, I began to think hard on the ‘Outside Force’ that allegedly turned his eyes green. Power Rings were ruled out rather quickly, as they are so common throughout the games (every one of them), and while essential to maintain optimal battle prowess, not powerful to change Sonic himself.
A lot of crossing things out, I finally threw out a random thought. The chaos emeralds. HOLD IT! The chaos emeralds, some of the most powerful items in Sonic’s world. I began to draw hypothesizes left and right. Let’s see; To change Sonic’s basic appearance, you would need an awful lot of ENERGY. ENERGY is something the Chaos Emeralds most definitely possess.
With that said, they have a certain power that emits from them. Exposure to them has actually been proven to affect Sonic somehow. Let’s take a look! Ok, he first collected them in Sonic 1, six of them. Done deal, right? No. He discovered a seventh in Sonic 2, a game that takes place after Sonic 1 and CD.
- With that said, He manipulated their powers to transform into Super Sonic.
- Now, what’s the significance of this? Well, Sonic 3, and Sonic and Knuckles, that’s what Sonic 3 takes place IMMEDIATELY after Sonic the Hedgehog 2, in which he IMMEDIATELY transforms into Super Saiyan.
- With that out of the way, it is precedent that Sonic has spent an awful lot of time with the chaos emeralds now.
The effects probably haven’t taken place yet though. After all, it’s only been one game. Then this should drive it home. Sonic 3 and Knuckles focus A LOT on the emeralds, and even then, the most POWERFUL of his realm, Hyper Emeralds. An entire TWO GAMES having Sonic in contact and exposed to the raw power of both Chaos Emeralds, AND Hyper Emeralds! And If THAT wasn’t enough, the final boss IS REQUIRED to have the emeralds, and the canon method is with the HYPER ENERALDS! And with that said, as well as not only is he immersed with the HYPER EMERALDS, he also CARRIED THE MASTER EMERALD, which by the way, REACTS TO THE EMERALDS IN GENERAL.
And with that said, the sequel, Sonic 4, did not take place immediately after 3 and knuckles, but we know it’s still a relatively close time. So it is HIGHLY possible for Sonic to have went under the changes he got! Now, some of you might ask, “Well, why didn’t it take place after Sonic 1, huh? That game ALSO had chaos emeralds, AND canonically Sonic collects them all.” Well, here’s the thing.
Sonic 1 not only lacked Sonic FUSING with the emeralds, the master emerald, and as well as unlike Sonic 2, 3, and Knuckles, Sonic 1 is not followed up immediately by Sonic 2, meaning there was a lot of cool off time for Sonic, even IF the chaos emeralds could’ve taken any effect on him.
- CD’s time stones are just that.
- Time stones.
- They aren’t NEARLY as powerful as Chaos Emeralds, and do NOT fuse with Sonic at all.
- In fact, the only time Sonic touches them is collecting them.
- I assume holding on to them counts, but once again, not powerful enough.
- Finally, I guess there is only ONE LAST THING to cover; why green? Well, this is actually very ‘what if’, sadly.
But think of it like this; Sonic is almost always portrayed with a Green Chaos Emerald. His artwork of him and an emerald normally depict the green emerald. It’s his signature. And in Good Smile’s rendition of Sonic, it shows what I think is Sonic changing.
Does Sonic have 2 eyes?
What Did They Do to Sonic the Hedgehog’s Eyes?! Photo: Paramount Pictures This is embarrassing to admit, but I have never seen the film Rosemary’s Baby, I don’t know much about it, but I do know a baby is born by the end of the film, and the baby is wrong in some way. The baby is Satan? I refuse to find out.
- The other thing I know is that the baby has messed-up eyes.
- The mom of Rosemary’s baby (which would be Rosemary now that I’m thinking about it) says, “The eyes! What did you do to her eyes?!” or something like that.
- I think the twist is you never see the eyes? Like I said, I haven’t seen the movie.
- I mention all of this because yesterday, the first image from the Sonic the Hedgehog movie was put online and everyone wants to know what the hell they did to Sonic’s eyes.
Here’s what the poster (a “motion poster,” don’t ask) looks like. Okay interesting. He looks oddly buff (?), but it could be way worse. The film is live-action with a CGI Sonic, so nobody’s got high hopes, I don’t think. The online reaction was mixed, which is kinda the case for anything Sonic-related, where the speedy hedgehog still has a robust fandom.
But the mood soon turned to fear because of a quote director Tim Miller gave to : The most challenging part of Sonic’s updated design isn’t revealed in this teaser: his eyes. The filmmakers struggled with how best to depict Sonic’s eyes because often he’s only seen with one, and that wouldn’t translate well to the live-action movie.
“I don’t think SEGA was entirely happy with the eye decision, but these sorts of things you go, ‘It’s going to look weird if we don’t do this.’ But everything is a discussion, and that’s kind of the goal, which is to only change what’s necessary and stay true to the rest of it,” said Miller.
“He’s not going to feel like a Pixar character would because I don’t think that’s the right aesthetic to make it feel like part of our world.” Oh no. Sonic’s eyes are a complicated issue, especially as the character has transitioned from 2-D to 3-D and been redesigned over the years. As of now, Sonic’s two eyes combined to form a single larger eye with two pupils, and his widow’s peak descends very far down, almost to his nose.
It’s kinda like how the eyes from Pixar’s Cars franchise work. The movie is apparently different though. The internet sleuths, diligent as ever, pointed out that even within this mysterious silhouette you can see a beady little eye protruding from Sonic’s face. Faced with this clue and the admission that the filmmakers decided to completely ruin Sonic’s face (slight exaggeration), artists set out to try and determine what the hell he looks like now.
- Tried to do a quick sketch of what Sonic looks like(In my eyes) in this silhouette for the Sonic movie 2019.
- Did i do good? And if not, then i don’t blame you Haha XD — 🦈⚡🐶JaredSteeleType🐶⚡🦈 (@Jared12Steele) the fact that sega wasn’t happy with how sonic’s eyes looked already gives me no hope for this movie — AfroNinja360 (@afroninja180) Let’s make it extra cursed based on my sketch — Gate (@countgate) Push up the contrast of a Hi-res Sonic poster.
I may be OK with his muzzle.but.his eyes! EYES!!! MY EYES!!!! — Smez Prakezz, The Red Hedgehog 🦔🦝🇹🇭 (@SMPMusicAndArt) There. Now you don’t have to live in fear any longer. Knowing how messed up Sonic’s face is better than not knowing at all. You can live in peace until the movie opens in a year??? : What Did They Do to Sonic the Hedgehog’s Eyes?!

Why are Sonic’s eyes conjoined?
Examples: – open/close all folders Anime and Manga
Tensai Bakabon has one of the oldest and most famous examples in Japan, Mr. Cop, Since that’s not very distinct, he is officially referred to as Mentama Tsunagari no Omawari-san, or “Eye-joined Mr. Cop.” There’s probably a catchier translation.
Comic Books
Cerebus the Aardvark has no division between his eyes, this is even drawn attention to when he has to have one eye bandaged for a while. In contrast, the other two aardvarks who appear, Suenteus Po and Cirin, have separate eyes. The Smurfs, especially in the animated series, Although this probably isn’t intentional, as a division between their eyes is implied. Dennis the Menace (UK), Depending on the Artist, The Super-Deformed style in the comic adaptation of Le Donjon de Naheulbeuk shows most characters as this, though the shading implies a separation most of the time. The main and most recurring characters in Monica’s Gang, Phil DeLara would give Daffy Duck conjoined eyes in the Gold Key stories of him, which is odd since DeLara was a layout artist at Warner Bros. under the Robert McKimson unit.
Film
Many characters in the Disney/Pixar Cars franchise. Justified, as it’s basically their windshields. This was even applied to characters whose bases in real life do not have windshields, such as Francesco Bernoulli, and characters whose bases otherwise have asymmetrical cockpits (such as the dump truck Mater knocked over in the prologue, whose cockpit is actually moved to the center of his body, and the double-decker buses in London, whose cockpits are changed into monocles). Also, for some reason there are no convertibles (they all have their roofs down) in this universe, with their windows being completely opaque, implying that they all may not be hollow. The Voyages Of Young Doctor Dolittle has the two-pupil eyeball variant on a lot of animal characters. The Adventures of the American Rabbit : Vultor, The Penguins and some of the animal citizens have these eyes. In a creepy variant, Sutter Cane’s agent in In the Mouth of Madness goes berserk after reading the manuscript for Cane’s latest work, and a close-up shows that each of his eyes has acquired overlapping double pupils. Interestingly (but for obvious reasons ), Sonic’s movie self actually averts this trope, having two separate eyes (albeit with a small patch of white fur between them to give the illusion of his eyes being conjoined). Ditto for Shadow, as can be seen in The Stinger of the second movie.
Live Action Television
Just about every character in BJ and the Dirty Dragon Show/Gigglesnort Hotel.
Newspaper Comics
Several characters in Bloom County and its follow-ups, particularly Opus. When the strip was rebooted as Opus, the title character had a line drawn between his eyes. The default style for Tumbleweeds, Wanda from Baby Blues, even though the default style is two eyes.
Video Games
Sonic the Hedgehog : The hedgehogs (Sonic, Amy, Shadow, Silver) appear to have eyes that are connected, but almost none of the other characters with some exceptions like Mighty, Ray, Vector and Charmy. Word of God confirms that Sonic does have two separate eyeballs; the 2020 film depicts Sonic with visibly separate eyeballs, albeit with a little white spot of fur between them to give the illusion that they’re conjoined. Bubble and Squeak : Due to the games art style, a great many of the characters in the game, including Bubble and Squeak, have their eyes like this. Nearly everybody in Club Penguin has eyes designed like this, with the bonus of the eye depicted as a single arc from one side of the head to the other—in other words, everyone really IS drawn as a cyclops with two pupils. In the Donkey Kong series, you have Diddy and Dixie. It’s also rather hard to tell behind his specs, but Cranky also has this going on. More obscure examples include Donkey Kong Jr., Kiddy Kong, and (oddly) Swanky Kong. In Toki Tori, the titular egg-shaped chick has large eyes connected so close together that they seem to be one big eye with two pupils. In Eversion, the cute monsters’ eyes gradually become like this as you evert from World X-1 to X-3. Evert to X-4 and beyond, and their eyes fuse into one eye. Inverted with Duskull from Pokémon : It has two eye sockets sharing a pupil! The squid form of Inklings in Splatoon have conjoined eyes. This is somewhat reflected in their humanoid form, with their eyes being connected by one black marking. Their sister species, Octolings, avert this trope by having two separate eyes even in octopus form, which is reflected by having disconnected black markings around their eyes in humanoid form. The Nintendo 64-era 3D Models of Koopa Troopas and Yoshi had this problem. The Broodals in Super Mario Odyssey all have different styles for their eyes, with Spewart having a subtle case of this trope. His eyes are clearly delineated by an arch, but it doesn’t quite connect to form the bridge of his nose, and there is no apparent division between the eyes that can be seen in the gap. Sonic Dreams Collection takes this too far. During the “My Roommate Sonic” segment, as you look into Sonic’s eyes, the pupils move closer together until they merge into a swirling vortex that sucks you in. In Mole’s World, the lahms that are kept as pets by the moles have eyeballs that are fused together. Mega Man (Classic) : Turbo Man, Astro Man, Galaxy Man, and Bounce Man are justified examples: they each have a single digital display with twin pupils where the eyes should be.

Virus from Exterminatus Now, explicitly based on the Sonic look. Example (last panel) Captain Kaff Tagon from Schlock Mercenary, as well as his father, Gen. Karl Tagon (ret), and both his brother and grandfather (all male members of Tagon family). All characters in Breakpoint City have these to begin with. Minor characters began showing up with separate eyes in late 2002, and the main characters gained them one by one over time.
So far, Dan is the only one of the main and minor characters who still lacks separate eyeballs. Dummy Duck all three main characters’ eyes when fully opened. In The Whiteboard, the “generic” anthro furries that have more or less replaced the featureless “bubblehead” no-neck humans all tend to have conjoined eyes, although much of the older, more regular cast have eyes that are separate from one another.
Lampshaded in Brawl in the Family #487 Sonic’s Eyes. Tails finds a single conjoined contact lens. And a rather horrifying version here. In this comic of Awkward Zombie, Pac-Man eats several Super Smash Bros. characters including Sonic, leaving only their eyes. Eating Sonic leaves behind a big eye with two pupils. Subverted in one webcomic, where Sonic reveals that his “eye” is a pair of goggles, and what people assume are his irises are actually his full eyes.
Web Original
Unskippable remarked on this trope during one of the episodes on a Sonic game. They also noted that, with more modern graphics and pre-rendered cinematics, it makes Sonic’s eyes (eye?) look particularly creepy, as the more “realistic” detailing from the CGI clashes with this otherwise cartoonish design. Cordie from Cliffside is a Spider/Scorpion Cute Monster Girl who technically has four eyes in each of her eyesockets that only look like she’s Pie-Eyed, It also helps her do Wing Ding Eyes for comic effect.
Western Animation
When Beany and Cecil meet the Wildman of Wildsville, he paints TV knobs on Cecil’s nostrils. He turns one which causes Cecil’s eyes to conjoin and the pupils to form the CBS eye, Blue, Magenta, and Green Puppy from Blue’s Clues have these. Zipper from Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers, Goofy, Pluto the Pup, Clarabelle Cow, Horace Horsecollar, and Pete from the Classic Disney Shorts,
Mickey Mouse is an interesting example. In his first two cartoons he has large googly eyes with a clear separation, but by “Steamboat Willie” the outlines disappear and the pupils become the eyes, while the rims become eyebrows. Occasionally, however, the “eyes” would move around the face, and if it’s dark the whole eye-brow area lights up. As animation became more realistic, Mickey’s design began to seem weird and unnatural, so he was redesigned with eyes that have pupils. To complicate the issue, in early cartoon shorts and 2013 revival Mickey’s face the same colour as his sclera would be, hinting that he has conjoined eyes that simply blend into the rest of his face due to them both being white. When he’s depicted with glowing eyes it becomes more explicit.
Many Looney Tunes characters have these during wild takes, even characters like Bugs Bunny, whose eyes are usually not that close together.
Tasmanian Devil (a.k.a Taz) is a straight example for the most part regardless rather it’s Wild Take or not.
The Disney animated short Suzie the Little Blue Coupe, which apparently inspired the character designs for Cars, Similar to many Looney Tunes characters, Oggy from Oggy and the Cockroaches normally does not have any conjoined eyes, but he gains a pair on a few shots. Brain and a few MAD henchmen from Inspector Gadget had them from time to time (usually in episodes with lower budgets). In the Steven Universe short “Fusion”, Ruby is drawn with these. Since her design normally has two separate eyes, fans found this hilarious and nicknamed this design “Ruby the Hedgehog”. Not only do The Snorks have these, they take up over 50% of their faces.

Why do Sonic turn yellow?
Super Sonic in:,
has a more detailed article located, |
Super Sonic is a special form that takes on after collecting the seven, His super form grants him increased speed, the power of flight and turns his blue quills upward and golden yellow. Super Sonic is usually invincible to attacks, though he can die by being crushed or falling off screen.
Making its debut in Sonic The Hedgehog 2, the form is often attributed to being a nod to the Super Saiyan form from the popular anime Dragon Ball, with the seven Chaos Emeralds also matching the number of Dragon Balls. Since being introduced, Super Sonic has appeared in nearly all the home console games that he has appeared in, with a couple of exceptions, for example being replaced by Darkspine Sonic in Sonic and the Secret Rings.
Super Sonic has also recently found his way into the many party games that Sonic has taken part in, for example, Super Smash Bros. Brawl as his Final Smash and Sega Superstars Tennis. In his most recent outings in the main series, Super Sonic is often saved for a special one-off boss fight at the end of the game, unlike his first appearances which allowed you to take control of him during in-game levels.
Since “Sonic 3 and Knuckles” Super Sonic has weaved its way into becoming a standard story element for the games; specifically, the final boss stage of many Sonic games onwards would see Sonic(and sometimes some of his friends) gathering all seven Chaos Emeralds and unlocking their combined super-chaotic energies and absorbing them, transforming themselves into meta-powered, nigh-invincible angelic beings, blessed with nearly infinite strength and power and a holy golden aura.
Once he(they) gained this form, Sonic and co. would blast and confront Dr. Eggman in one last epic final battle. More often than not, the plotlines would see Sonic use this form and its power to duel with eldritch, god-like, evil entities whom Eggman had unleashed upon the world as a part of his plans(which had failed due to Sonic’s interventions) and now posed much greater threats than the Doctor himself, and Super Sonic had take them down.

What is Sonic’s last name?
Alternate versions – Archie’s Sonic comic features Sonic with alternate dimensional versions of himself. One such version is known as Evil Sonic who hails from Anti-Mobius in a parallel dimension. He is as brash and arrogant as Sonic, but is self-important, ruthless, and sadistic with a desire for mayhem, truly making him Sonic’s opposite or “Anti-Sonic.” Archie’s Sonic comic recently bore witness to an evolution of Evil Sonic when he tried to siphon off energy from the Master Emerald, evolving into what he now calls himself, Scourge the Hedgehog.
- Another version of Sonic that has happened is Sonic’s temporary separation of Super Sonic as his own entity.
- When Sonic was lost in the vastness of space, he came across a an alien planet that had six red Chaos Emeralds.
- Unlike the original green Chaos Emeralds on his homeworld, these split him in two with Super Sonic becoming is own entity obsessed with power and destruction, and Sonic himself trying to stop the new menace that he unleashed.
But like the original Chaos Emeralds, the effects were only temporary, thus the seperate entity vanished. In the Archie comics, Sonic’s real name is revealed to be Olgilvie Maurice Hedgehog. He tries desperately to protect that information, possibly out of embarrassment.
Did Sonic have human teeth?
We Asked a Hedgehog Dentist to Explain Why Sonic’s Human Teeth Are So Upsetting He’s cute if you don’t look at the teeth. Photo: Sonic the Hedgehog, This interview originally ran last year, but we’re republishing it ahead of the release of the Sonic the Hedgehog movie. As most devoted children of the 1990s already know, the trailer for the upcoming movie dropped.
And it’s clear, beyond a reasonable doubt, that the worst thing about its confusing display of both live-action and CGI scenes are those teeth. Someone made the awful decision to give Sonic (clearly a hedgehog ) human teeth. It’s terrifying, and we hate it. So we asked, an exotic-animal veterinarian at the Veterinary Center for Birds & Exotics in Bedford Hills, New York, to walk us through the horror.
What were your initial thoughts on the new Sonic the Hedgehog image I sent you? It was adorable. I mean, I love hedgehogs. They’re really adorable. I guess for me, the main thing is that I love the idea of drawing attention to hedgehogs, as long as it promotes responsible pet ownership.
You know, it’s a cute picture. It doesn’t look like a real hedgehog looks obviously. It’s got a different color, little prickly things, you know. What do hedgehog teeth really look like? So hedgehog teeth are actually very tiny, and the big problem, ironically, given the big teeth, is the overgrowing of their gums.
Their gums actually grow up over their teeth and obscure their teeth or make them look actually smaller. So they’re definitely not large or, like, canine-looking teeth. If you could compare hedgehog teeth to the teeth of another animal in the animal kingdom, what would that animal be? They’re not at all related to them, but they’re more like ferret teeth.
You know, they’re very small and they get a lot of the same diseases that ferrets get and cats get. What would you say is the most common ailment that you treat when it comes to hedgehogs and their teeth? Both the buildup of tartar in the mouth and then they get periodontal disease, where their teeth get loose and fall out.
And also the overgrowing of the gum on their teeth, which means they’re chewing with their gums, which can get very painful. Whenever the hedgehogs get checkups once a year, it should include a thorough, full oral exam, which can be really difficult because, as you know, hedgehogs ball up, and it’s hard enough to get them to open up and even glance at their faces.
- So there are some tricks that we have, like filling a plastic tub or pan or little plastic container with water, and we put them in there, try to get them to unfurl and to open their mouths.
- Sometimes we can’t even do that and we have to anesthetize for a brief period to get into their mouths.
- They get a lot of tumors in their mouths.
Are hedgehogs your primary patient types? I don’t think they are any one person’s primary patient types. I’m an exotic-animal vet, so I don’t treat cats or dogs. I treat quite a few hedgehogs. I don’t think any one veterinarian could survive on seeing just hedgehogs because I don’t think they’re that popular as pets.
- They’re definitely popular; they’re definitely fun.
- I definitely see more hedgehogs than anybody in the New York area.
- An adorable hedgehog named Prickle.
- Photo: Dr.
- Laurie Hess Approximately how many hedgehogs’ mouths have you worked on? It comes in spurts.
- In the course of the week, we might see two to three hedgehogs a week.
I examine every one of their mouths. Dental problems and mouth problems are a really big part of what we see. When do you usually give hedgehogs an anesthetic? They have this incredible ability to ball up, and that’s how they hide from predators. They literally ball into a big prickly ball.
They’re not like porcupines, so they don’t shoot their quills, but their quills are prickly, and it’s really hard. They have strong muscles along their back that enable them to completely hide their face. If someone brings in their pet hedgehog and expects me to do an exam, and they’re very tame and social and they unfurl readily, you know, I can do a very regular exam like you would on any animal — cat, dog, or bird.
Starting at their heads and looking at their eyes and their noses and their mouths, working my way down their body and feeling the abdomen, looking at their reproductive regions and at their feet and all those things. If they won’t cooperate with me, the first thing I’ll try is filling up that little bowl or bin with water.
- They don’t love to stand in water, so they do kind of stretch out.
- Sometimes I get so far that I can do an overall exam, but if I try to open their mouths or listen to their hearts, that’s a little more specific in detail; they’ll ball up again.
- So if they really fight me and don’t respond to the whole get-them-in-water thing, I have to put a little anesthetic mask over their body and give them gas anesthesia, which lasts a couple of minutes and enables me to get them to relax, and I can do a thorough exam.
It’s a pretty common obstacle that people with hedgehogs have to overcome. It’s the balling up. Have you ever been bitten during a procedure? I’ve been bitten by everything. Have I been nipped by hedgehogs? Sure. With hedgehogs, they’re really shy and they’re not aggressive.
- The balling up thing enables them to hide their mouths from me and avoid their whole interaction.
- That’s kind of their defense mechanism.
- Would you say their bites are painful? It’s a nip.
- It’s not like daggers or anything.
- They’ll typically try to curl up.
- Have you ever tried to floss a hedgehog’s teeth? It’s really hard.
So no. There are little teeny tiny toothbrushes used for puppies and kittens that I use for ferrets, and I’ve actually given them to hedgehog owners too. They’re called finger brushes and they fit over the tip of your pointer finger. They actually come with meat-flavored toothpaste.
Eat insects and things like that, but they have chicken toothpaste. I will have owners try to brush their hedgehogs’ teeth. I think if you start at a really young age, and you try to get them used to getting their teeth touched with water and a brush, you can prevent a lot of the dental things since you eliminate all the tartar.
Most adult hedgehogs just won’t let you start doing that. Flossing is not really an option. I get why everyone is freaking out about how Sonic looks in the trailer. It’s because his teeth are not accurate to real hedgehogs. I fixed it. You’re welcome. — Jon Risinger (@JonRisinger) I can’t tell what’s worse: ‘s off putting human teeth, or if they had used anatomically correct hedgehog teeth.
- 𝑪𝒂𝒓𝒎𝒆𝒏 (@honeyeaue) When you do oral exams, do you have really small dental tools? Yep.
- We have little mouth speculums that open their mouths.
- There’s actually a human nasal speculum built to go up someone’s nostrils, but we use it in hedgehogs and guinea pigs and rabbits.
- It kind of looks like a clamshell, but instead of up and down it opens side to side.
There’s a little light and we just put it in their mouths. They don’t love it, but it lets us look at the backs of their mouths so we can see their teeth and their gums and all that stuff. Do you think the live-action Sonic would be scarier with actual hedgehog teeth? I think real hedgehog teeth would be less scary than,
- They’re not really aggressive.
- They’re active animals; they’re not aggressive animals.
- They tend to be kind of shy and fearful, and that’s why they ball up; it’s a defense mechanism.
- I think Sonic is more outgoing than most hedgehogs, unless you socialize them and get them young and handle them a lot.
- A lot of them can be really friendly and open to strangers.
Unfortunately, most people don’t do that, so get really scared and ball up. I can’t say that I’ve watched Sonic in action, but if Sonic is balling up and doing those normal things, and then is interactive and social, that’s a good way of portraying a hedgehog.
That’s reality. Do you have any feelings on the rest of Sonic’s look? The blue is not realistic, but they do have white on the bottom. The part that’s all spiky and prickly, that’s called the mantle on a normal hedgehog. They do have a soft area underneath the prickly part on their back. You can kind of see the little quills on the back.
That’s realistic. The nose is similar. There are two main types of hedgehogs. There’s the European hedgehog. We don’t really see those in the U.S. We see African pygmy hedgehogs, and those are the ones we keep as pets. They’re the ones that I see. I would say a stuffed-animal version of what a hedgehog would look like.
- In the end, what do you think it is about Sonic with human teeth that makes people uncomfortable? Hedgehog teeth are cute and small, just like them.
- Their teeth match their size.
- Maybe that’s why people don’t think big teeth match the tiny, cute hedgehog.
- This interview has been edited and condensed for clarity.

Who is Sonic’s crush?
Sonic the Hedgehog’s Live-Action Movie: Who Is Ben Schwartz Gonna Kiss? Ben Schwartz of Parks and Recreation fame will voice in the upcoming live-action movie about Sega’s blue speedster, and it’s a fitting casting choice. But now that fans know who will be playing Sonic, they can turn their attention to the next-biggest question, at least among every Sonic fan with a DeviantArt account: Who is Sonic gonna kiss? broke the news of Schwartz’s casting on Thursday, writing that the actor would be joining Jim Carrey, who will play Dr.
Robotnik, and James Marsden and Tika Sumpter, who will the play the human leads. However, Variety — perhaps because it’s a largely respectable trade magazine — had no insights on what sort of smooching Sonic might get up to in the film, which is set to premiere on November 15, 2019. That’s a shame, because Sonic’s love life is one of the most facinating aspects of Sonic fandom.
Here are some guesses as to who Schwartz’s Sonic might swap spit with. Amy Rose, a pink hedgehog who swings a mean hammer, has a longstanding crush on Sonic throughout the various Sonic games, cartoons, and comics. Though Sonic generally hasn’t reciprocated as much as Amy would like, this is probably the closest thing the series has to a “canon” pairing, and it would make sense if Sonic and Amy shared a smooch in a high-stakes, live-action movie.
However, there’s no confirmation that Amy will be in the movie, so this isn’t guaranteed. In the infamous 2006 Sonic the Hedgehog game, which boasted a wildly complex and self-important plot, with normal human proportions. In the upcoming Sonic movie, James Marsden plays Tom Wachowski, a normal human sheriff who teams up with Sonic, a giant anthropomorphic blue hedgehog.
That means it’s entirely possible that Sonic could lock lips with a real actor rather than a CGI animal compatriot. Maybe female lead Tika Sumpter should read her contract carefully? Before we were debating whether Twitter should ban Nazis or not, before arguments about how “.GIF” is pronounced, there was one question that took the internet by storm: It’s a question that has become both a weird internet meme and the topic of too many fanfictions to count.

Is there a black Sonic?
Description – Shadow is an anthropomorphic black hedgehog appearing in Sega ‘s Sonic the Hedgehog series of platform games and its various spin-offs, He first appeared in the 2001 installment Sonic Adventure 2, the final Sonic game released for a Sega Dreamcast,
His roles in the games vary. Some, such as the main series games Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Heroes (2003), and Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) feature him as a major playable character, and he is the protagonist of the spin-off Shadow the Hedgehog (2005) and a downloadable content (DLC) package for Sonic Forces (2017).
Others, such as the anniversary game Sonic Generations (2011), limit him to a non-playable role. In the games, Shadow is depicted as a mysterious, sharp-witted, and brooding antihero, While his ultimate goal is to protect the world from danger, he dislikes humanity, and once he has set a goal, he does whatever it takes to accomplish it.
This often causes him to take risks without thinking them through and puts him at odds with series protagonist Sonic the Hedgehog, Although a loner, Shadow collaborates with treasure hunter Rouge the Bat and robot E-123 Omega in games such as Sonic Heroes, Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), and Sonic Forces,
Shadow allies with Sonic in some games, but also does so with Doctor Eggman in Sonic Adventure 2 and Shadow the Hedgehog, Shadow shares many similarities with Sonic. Visually, GameSpot ‘s Ben Stahl described Shadow as “an evil version of Sonic himself—similar in appearance, but with darker skin, more angled eyes, and a fearsome snarl instead of Sonic’s trademark grin.” GamesRadar+ ‘s Justin Leeper said that if Sonic was Superman, then Shadow would be his Batman,
- The characters control similarly in games, as both share skills and the ability to run at great speeds.
- Shadow has unique attributes in some games, such as his uses of firearms and vehicles in Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog, respectively.
- He can also use the Chaos Emeralds to perform “Chaos Control”—allowing him to distort time—and create weapons like spears.
Like Sonic, Shadow can transform into a “Super” form giving him special powers.
Who is Sonic’s weakness?
Sonic’s only weakness is that he cannot swim, sinking like a rock if plunged to a deep body of water. The only exception is that he can swim in the Sonic the Hedgehog Adventure Gamebooks.
What is Sonic’s evil twin name?
Appearance – Scourge, when simply known as Evil Sonic, was essentially a doppelganger and so was identical to Sonic save for his attire, which consisted of a black leather jacket, boots and dark sunglasses. He occasionally passed himself off as Sonic by stealing and wearing the heroic hedgehog’s shoes. Evil Sonic’s new design as Scourge. The character, however, was heavily reinvented so as to become more distinct; artist Patrick Spaziante provided the visual design. While Sonic is blue with green eyes, Scourge is the opposite. His ears also appear to be more angular than Sonic’s.
His leather jacket gained flame designs on the arms and his shoes are green, silver and black. He now sports red sunglasses and two large scars on his abdomen that Locke scarred him with. He also gained an exaggerated pointy-toothed grin. His fur varies somewhat between colorists, going from a bright green to a darker pine shade.
The character has sometimes been depicted with fingerless gloves, but the standard white gloves are more common. For a time, Scourge wore a crown of sorts; a three-spiked, grooved dark piece that rested on his forehead. While a Data-File initially mentioned a potential “golden” Super form, artist Tracy Yardley and writer Ian Flynn came up with multiple alternate design concepts; the final included an unusual Super form with purple fur, red eyes on black, and partially inverted colors on his clothing (purple shoes, blue sunglasses and blue flames on the jacket). A 3-D rendition of Scourge. Following his imprisonment he retains his usual green sneakers, but has been forced to wear an orange jumpsuit, and his spikes have been cut short; further distancing him from Sonic’s appearance, who still possesses long spikes.

She also is the one that does research on Robotnik’s plans and provides the technological innovation for the Sonic Underground. Of the siblings, Sonia is the only one to be seen involved in any romance, displaying feelings for her childhood friend Bartleby, despite his snobbishness, as well as other men encountered in her travels. - Dingo (voiced by Peter Wilds ) is one of Robotnik’s canine bounty hunters and Sleet’s partner. Dingo is a huge, muscle-bound blonde and is also very ignorant. How did Sonic turn blue?
Story – Night has fallen on Mobius, and Tails, Johnny Lightfoot and Porker Lewis are watching as Sonic powers up a Star Post for a visit to the Special Zone, The gang arrive safely and run the half-pipe gauntlet (Porker colliding with a few bombs ) before arriving at their destination: The sentient and omnipotent Omni-Viewer, an old friend of Sonic’s.
Sonic has brought his friends to see Omni having decided it’s time they learned the truth about Robotnik and how Sonic got his powers. Omni thus replays video footage of the day when Sonic investigated the lab of Dr Ovi Kintobor and learned of the scientist’s Retro-Orbital Chaos Compressor, a device which would eradicate evil from Mobius forever by pumping all the planet’s evil into the Chaos Emeralds,
One Emerald was missing however, and Sonic helped Kintobor find it, in exchange for letting the scientist carry out a few experiments into his speed. In one such experiment involving the doctor’s new Power Sneakers, Sonic ran so fast in Kintobor’s Kinetic Gyratosphere that he broke the sound barrier, destroying the machine and leaving him with a new look: fusing his quills together and turning them blue.
- Omni goes on to reveal footage of a later moment when Kintobor found a six month old rotten egg in his fridge.
- While venturing across the lab in search of some salt, Kintobor tripped over a trailing cable and collided with the ROCC.
- The evil in the Emeralds combined with the rotten egg transformed the kindly Ovi Kintobor into the malevolent Doctor Ivo Robotnik.
As Sonic finishes his story, Omni warns the gang to run. Unable to stop himself, Omni sucks Sonic and friends into his display. The Special Zone is still under Robotnik’s rule, and Sonic has now been trapped somewhere in the future where he can no longer interfere with the dictator’s plans.

Why is Sonic turning blue?
One of the lesser-known facts of Sonic lore is that the character wasn’t always blue, and the story of how that came to be is linked to the origin of his nemesis. Some things in video games are never questioned. Like, for instance, why mushrooms make Mario big, how a fridge can fit in your pocket in Animal Crossing or the fact that Sonic the Hedgehog is blue. However, that doesn’t mean that some of them don’t have secret origins though.
Sonic’s iconic blue hue is one such case, and that secret origin is intrinsically linked with that of his nemesis. The truth was revealed in “The Origin of Sonic” from Sonic the Comic #8 by Nigel Kitching, Richard Elson, and Elitta Fell. The Blue Blur decided it was time his friends learned the truth about the evil Dr.
Robotnik, so took them to the Special Zone, the location of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 ‘s special stages, where they met the Omnipotent Omni-viewer. Think Marvel’s the Watcher but for Sonic – and also he’s a giant TV screen. Omni (as Sonic calls him) tells them the truth about Eggman’s origins, knowing full well they are Sonic’s as well. Originally, Sonic was just a regular hedgehog with a natural brown color to match. Everything changed when he stumbled into the laboratory of Dr. Ovi Kintobor. The kind scientist explained to the young hedgehog that he was working on a device that would rid Mobius of all evil.
This plan required the seven Chaos Emeralds, as most grad schemes on Mobius do, and Kintobor had already transferred most of the evil on the planet into the first six. However, without the seventh, his dream could not be completed. Sonic decided to help Kintobor find the seventh Emerald using his amazing speed.
The scientist was so fascinated by the hedgehog’s gift that he just had to run tests on him. He even created the iconic red and white sneakers to reduce the hedgehog’s friction while running. Kintober also created a device called the Kinetic Gyratoscope, which looked like a big hamster wheel, to increase Sonic’s speed. Sonic still stuck around after that incident though, stating that Ovi Kintobor was a really good guy. Unfortunately, tragedy struck from the most innocent of circumstances. Growing hungry, Kintobor went to the fridge for food but found the only thing left inside was a rotten egg.
Sonic, quite rightly, found the egg disgusting, but the good doctor thought it could be salvaged. As he went to get some salt, he tripped over a wire and he, along with the egg, fell into his evil-collecting machine. All of the evil that had been collected left the six Chaos Emeralds and went into Kintobor and the egg, fusing them into the abomination that was Dr.
Ivo Robotnik – the Eggman. As bizarre as some of this story is, there’s a tragic note to it all. Both Sonic and Eggman were present for the creation of the iconic figures they are today, but they knew each other before that too. As much as Sonic hates everything his nemesis has done, there’s sure to be a part of him that remembers his friend Ovi Kintobor.

- Programmer Yuji Naka and artist Naoto Ohshima are generally credited with creating Sonic.
- Most of the games are developed by Sonic Team,
- The original Sonic the Hedgehog (1991) was released to provide Sega with a mascot to rival Nintendo ‘s flagship character Mario,
Sonic was redesigned by Yuji Uekawa for Sonic Adventure (1998), with a more mature look designed to appeal to older players. Sonic is one of the world’s best-known video game characters and a gaming icon. His series had sold more than 80 million copies by 2011.
Did Sonic ever turn yellow?
Sonic the Hedgehog turns yellow during the ending of Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and here’s why he became Super Sonic in the video game movie sequel. Warning: SPOILERS for Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Sonic the Hedgehog turns yellow during the ending of Sonic the Hedgehog 2, bringing his iconic Super Sonic form to the movie franchise. Paramount increased the connections to the video games in the sequel to 2020’s hit Sonic the Hedgehog film.
- The 2022 follow-up featured Tails in a bigger role after a post-credits introduction, but it also featured the debut of Sonic’s rival Knuckles, the Master Emerald, and much more.
- Even before Sonic the Hedgehog 2 ‘s final surprise video game connection, the movie delivered another big moment for gamers when Sonic turned yellow.
As shown in the final battle against Jim Carrey’s Dr. Robotnik, Sonic emerges from a near-death experience with brand new powers. This comes as his traditionally blue quills turn yellow and begin glowing. Sonic’s gold form includes giving him red eyes and turning the three large quills on his head upwards.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 replicated this design for the Blue Blur and showed off his increased powers. The Super Sonic form gives the hedgehog the ability of flight and super-strength, while he’s also faster and nearly invincible. It is for that reason that he manages to rather quickly defeat Dr. Robotnik in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 ‘s ending,
Sonic the Hedgehog’s yellow form is a striking visual for the sequel to use, but the reason why Sonic turns yellow in Sonic 2 is tied to the film’s MacGuffin. Sonic and Tails are on a mission throughout the movie to find the Master Emerald, but they fail as Robotnik harnesses its power instead. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 confirms that Sonic’s yellow form makes him the most powerful being in the universe, but that type of power is only temporary. He can’t always be Super Sonic, but the Blue Blur always has the opportunity to regain this form. Sonic can only become Super Sonic by collecting all seven of the Chaos Emeralds again.
- Since Sonic the Hedgehog 2 ended with them leaving Sonic’s body and floating into the sky, it is unclear where they are now.
- However, the fact that they weren’t definitively destroyed leaves the door open for Super Sonic’s return.
- The debut of Super Sonic in live-action comes at the same point as the video game franchise, as Sonic’s yellow form was first unlocked in Sega’s Sonic the Hedgehog 2 in 1992.
Due to the unlimited power that Sonic possesses as Super Sonic, it is often used by the heroic hedgehog in times of great crisis or adversity. Future Sonic the Hedgehog movies will likely continue to limit the use of Super Sonic, as he’ll be too powerful for most villains otherwise.
Is there a green person in Sonic?
Appearance – Manic is a green-furred, anthropomorphic hedgehog, whose quills are shaggier than Sonic’s and Sonia’s. He wears a orange vest, black spiked wristbands, white gloves and an orange fanny-pack, which he seems to fit anything and everything in, from his drumsticks to his lock picks and to whatever he steals.
