The Episode Review – It seems Zhou Yi has an idea about the false He Bufang. But then again, he let the Games go ahead, so maybe not. Have you figured out whether Zhou Yi is terribly canny or a little oblivious? We’re still assessing as it seems it could go either way.
Meanwhile, with Wang Ling ready to blow, what will happen if he spots Shadow Leader attack Sun Rong? And without Spiritual Sword or his talisman, how will Wang Ling keep it together? Did you notice that moment when Wang Ling’s eyes turned green? See the image above for reference. According to the fandom, that’s an indication of Wang Ling losing control and turning back time.
To date, we’ve been led to believe that ‘out of control’ looks more like an explosion of epic proportions. Maybe there’s more than one way for Wang Ling to go ballistic. Or maybe blanking out is just the start. Allegedly, when it happens, he doesn’t remember it.
- His not remembering wasn’t really crystal clear from what we saw, but perhaps we’ll come back to that piece in subsequent installments.
- There were a few moments where he was pushed to the edge so let’s keep watching for indications.
- Meanwhile, the rivalry is riding so high, neither 60 nor 59 is able to walk away, no matter the crisis.
It’s really more Ms Pan and Ms Xie dying to win over the other it seems. Not that the students aren’t competitive, however. Looks like we’ll find out next episode just how much. Is Wang Ling a God?
History – Wang Ling is stronger than with his extremely high levels of power. That is also why he is called the King in Lurking. He can nearly one shot almost everyone as long as they aren’t boundless (omnipotent) level that’s coming from outside his verse, but he can easily decimate everyone within his verse including his own author (writer) and chief director of his verse animator.
Wang Ling (Chinese:王令, Wáng lìng) is the male lead protagonist from The Daily Life of the Immortal King donghua series that was released in 2020, including the web novel that was made by Kuxuan earlier in 2017. Wang Ling is a reincarnated immortal emperor that is obsessed with a peaceful life. As a peaceful God, Wang Ling reincarnated into the modern era on a country named Huaxia, where cultivation is a common thing that everyone practices.
He reincarnated without retaining most of his prior life memories, but he still knows the immense power and the controlling limits he holds; therefore, he always tries to keep his power in check by asking his dad to make new fulu seals each time the previous one is no longer able to contain Wang Ling’s immense power.
Wang Ling is the first cultivator that does many wonders. He is the number one practitioner in Huaxia, as well being the strongest one in the entire mortal world known as earth. At the age of six, he defeated the Demon King Swallow Sky Clam with ease just by using an upward kick. As an Nigh-omnipotent cultivation wizard, Wang Ling had no choice but to hide his power in order to keep a low profile since he lives among a group of ordinary cultivation students.
Wang Ling doesn’t care about money, magic, magic weapons, or reputation that any ordinary people on the mortal world pursue. Wang Ling is able to keep a low profile thanks to the fulu seal placed on his neck, which suppresses his feelings/emotions. This is why Wang Ling acts so indifferent towards Sun Rong.
The sniper, top killer, and the assassins of the shadow faction as well as the rival school championship students can stop Wang Ling from pursuing the crisp noodles. His lover is Sun Rong. The power that Wang Ling was born with truly surpasses that of any other individual living in Huaxiu and even the entire universe he inhabits.
His power, if released, would destroy the world which is why he doesn’t utilize his power nor does he mention it to anyone other than his family. His father crafted a fulu talisman that is capable of fully suppressing his immense powers as well as his emotions.
- Not being able to feel emotions has led Wang Ling to lead a very lonely life.
- He was always left alone wherever he went because he doesn’t possess any empathy towards others.
- This is why everyone he meets thinks he’s a weirdo, and why nobody is willing to associate with him.
- Wang Ling sometimes wishes he didn’t possess the immense power so that he could live a normal life.
His lack of emotions has left him unable to respond to situations appropriately leading to his friends worrying as they believe he’s a bit cowardly. His friends however accept him as he is. Wang Ling tries his best to go along with all the plans that his friends have.
- The first season along with a little bit of expansion over his relations with his friends, however, does spark a romantic interest between Sun Rong and Wang Ling.
- Sun Rong, though she tends to be a bit annoying and drags Wang Ling wherever she wants, has a positive impact on him.
- In his heart, he feels affection for her but he cannot express it.
Wang Ling attends his high school, where he meets Tuntian Ha again. He tames him and makes him his friend. Tuntian Ha is renamed Froggy 2 and he becomes a friend of Wang Ling. His other friends, Chen Chao, who is a muscle head, Guo Hao, a game enthusiast and Sun Rong, romantic interest and descendent of Sun Wukong, the Monkey King are introduced eventually.
- Sun Rong is the successor of the Huaguo Water Curtain Group and is being targeted by the Shadow Stream Group.
- She is saved by Wang Ling whenever the Shadow Stream Group manages a sneaky attack.
- Sector 59 is another district like Sector 60, who have their own school that the cultivators attend with their names based on their sector.
There is a competition between schools of these two sectors. Wang Ling and his friends are chosen to compete against the cultivators of this school. The magical auditorium where the competition is held is where the last battle of season one takes place.
The leader of the Shadow Stream Group sneaks into this competition as a student and tries to kill Sun Rong. Wang Ling is shown as an emotionless, detached boy throughout the season. At the end of ‘The Daily Life Of The Immortal King’ season one, the amulet is unveiled as the cause behind his uncharacteristic behavior.
The amulet’s main use was to keep Wang Ling’s power in check and save the world from destruction. Wang Ling’s spiritual power could spill and put the world in danger, which is why his father devised the amulet to keep it from toppling. He had power, unlike anyone.
- When the amulet broke in the second last episode, Wang Ling experienced a burst of emotions which made him unstable.
- In the second last episode, the leader of the Shadow Clan killed Sun Rong, this served as the last straw that broke the talisman.
- This incident called forth Wang Ling’s wrath and he unleashes many of his power as the immortal king but his power is greatly reduced to 1/10th due to him being on a rage state, making him unable to control his power well and use it’s entire true potential.
He tries to bring Sun Rong back and whilst doing so creates a second world. This incident boasts about the unlimited power Wang Ling has. He tries to experience emotions and normalcy in this second world. Yet, he is unable to bring back Sun Rong. In this second world, he searches for Sun Rong to no avail.
The reason why Sun Rong does not exist in this second world is due to her soul being detached from her body. Her body also has no spiritual power to keep her soul intact. When Sun Rong’s soul arrives at the gates of the underworld, Yama notices that Sun Rong is the descendant of the omnipotent Monkey King, Sun Wukong.
He immediately sends her back. Because the Yama King as the king of underworld should prioritize the safety of the three worlds (universe) by returning Sun Rong soul back to the mortal world so Wang Ling rage can be stopped by Sun Rong once for all before the three universe is destroyed.
Sun Rong then wakes up to save Wang Ling from his rage and sets the world right with him. Therefore, Sun Rong does remain alive, but she has no recollection of the events that transpire between her and Wang Ling. This is because while setting the world back to its original place, Wang Ling had to reverse time.
Sun Rong was informed and she consented to lose her memory to save the world. After she did, they returned to the competition they were in before all this took place. The Daily Life Of The Immortal King first season ends with the world put back in its place and everything returning to normal.
The ‘normal’ is emphasized by Wang Ling’s father rushing over to put on a newly devised talisman over his neck where the previous talisman was. Here, Wang Ling does get questioned if he wants to return to his emotionless normal life or stay as he is and enjoy the instances as they come. Well, he sides with normalcy and discards his emotions yet again.
This time he feels secure to do so because his friends accepted him the way he is. That marked the end of season 1. (Season 2 Summary is in progress)

- Eys : Suppressed | Transcandent Form/State | Infinite Transcandent Note : The reasoning behind this character’s rating is this: All of these scales are used from Anime Cosmology, Webnovel Cosmology and Chinese Mythology Cosmology.
- Anime and Webnovel doesn’t really connects nor having much meaning on each others since both has different storyline.
so when he almost killed an tier Itinerant Immortal by throwing a mousepad. at least 5-B when still a kid since he reached the realm of Jindan, Nascent Soul and Loose Immortal| 5-B normally when powers still sealed, Lower 2-C up to 2-C at peak when powers still sealed by fulu seal | Unknown when in enraged state, at least 5-B up to Low 1-C (Nearly scales to abstract, making it downgraded into an inferior state.
- Wang Ling can’t control his powers since witnessing the death of his lover, Sun Rong.
- It made him to completely lost all sense of control and consciousness.
- The spiritual energy ball he creates is an extremely inferior version of the boundless Dao that he owns in his Webnovel version, that’s why he’s still weaker than his abstract form.
| 3-A+, possibly 2-C with his Jingke sword, possibly 1-A since Jingke was created from Heaven and Earth in which the Chinese Mythology Cosmology tier stands at the very least 1-A, likely higher | Lower 2-C, likely 2-C when merged with Tuntian Ha (Froggy 2/Er Ha) | 2-C, possibly up to 1-C with Abstract form | Unknown, at least 5-B when unsealed, atleast Higher 1-C, likely 1-B | 1-B, possibly High 1-B via Intrisic Spirit Field (Infinite Spirit Field) | Low 1-A, possibly higher via “Infinite Death & Reincarnation” and Joint Operation | 1-A up to Higher 1-A via implications of him being stronger than Sun Wukong as shown in the animation stated by the new underworld king, Yama.
- This is his animation tier if we based it on statements/lore, i respect your choice.so if you don’t like it then just look at the Higher 1-C | 1-B one and pretend this one doesn’t even exist at all).
- | Unknown, atleast 1-A, likely far higher in transcendent state | At least 1-A, possibly Higher 1-A on his post-reincarnation webnovel version due to being able to defeat outer gods that even the strongest immortals cannot ever win and they would die or at least nearly died when up against these outer gods, killed omnipotent character 1599 times and he also defeats them while still holding back his power (Only around 10% – 30% power were used).
He can nearly one shot almost everyone as long as they aren’t boundless level that’s coming from outside his verse, but he can easily decimate everyone within his verse including his own author (writer) and chief director of his verse animator, sometimes he also does this when his power is still fully sealed by fulu seals, possibly scales higher (1-S)

Did Wang Ling restart the world?
The Daily Life of the Immortal King Finale: Recap, Review & Ending Explained The Hopelessness of the Immortal King Episode 15 of The Daily Life of the Immortal King (Netflix) tosses us straight into Wang Ling’s first four restarts and then to the fifth, where we left off.
- But Wang Ling’s restarting the world can’t bring a person back to life.
- He quickly realises his mistake – not stopping Shadow Faction Leader sooner.
- Even though Froggy’s time-freeze has given them a bit of time to think of a new solution, Wang Ling is frustrated at his lack of ability.
- Froggy explains how time manipulation works, but to get the desired result it would take a good deal of power.
Enter Wang Ling. Hang on, reversing time is against the law of nature. With a good deal of warning, Wang Ling decides that any penalty couldn’t be worse than losing Sun Rong. So Froggy gives his support, once again merging. Wang Ling faced with his hopeless inability to reset the world and save Sun Rong. Time reverses back to the first day at School 60, when Wang Ling is beset by upperclassman bullies. This time Chen Chao and Guo Hua dive to the rescue. He offers them ten yuan as safe money but he’s just as confused as they are as to why he’s offering it.
In class, Wang Ling reacts to a girl who seems familiar, but it’s someone else. After school, he impulsively chases a limo but finds Tang Jingze and Isabelle inside. His house is the same, but the vibe is different. All in all, his new life is pretty good. But it’s not the same. It’s a different world. In fact, the combination of Froggy’s time bend and Wang Ling’s space adjustment converged to make a whole new world, rather than manipulate the previous one.
Now the new world is absorbing things from the old one, destroying what was left behind. Meanwhile in the Underworld, the newly crowned leader ponders what to do with sudden arrival of Sun Rong. Discovering that she’s the ancestor of her own Master there’s a moment of panic.
They tell a confused Sun Rong that she must be dreaming. In the new world, the guys head to the amusement park, Heavenly Paradise. They stop to have their fortunes told now with Zhou Yi as the attraction operator. It breaks at Wang Ling’s turn – what could that say about his future? The Gods of the Underworld realise they need to fix things to stop the world’s destruction and quickly send Sun Rong back to the living.
On Earth, Spirit Sword is shocked to see Sun Rong revive. As they continue through the amusement park, Wang Ling suffers from déjà vu. But the guys remind him that they’re there not to think but to have fun. Spirit Sword gets Sun Rong up to speed on the happenings, including Wang Ling starting a new world in an attempt to get her back. Sun Rong & Spirit Sword save Wang Ling. As he has visions of her and their shared past, she breaks into his world. Chen Chao encourages him to go, as she’s waiting for him. Time does turn back returning everyone to the Games and the moment where Chen Chao pushes fake He Bufang from the Alter of Metal.
- Just as He Bufang emerges as Shadow Faction Leader, a giant hand knocks her several feet into the ground.
- That’s our Wang Ling, immediately remedying the situation before things spiral.
- And it’s School 60 for the win to cheers and shouts all around.
- Before Sun Rong can reach Wang Ling to celebrate and have their moment like in the past, she’s detained by news reporters wanting a soundbite.
Froggy consoles Wang Ling as they flash back to the big decision. In that moment, after everything they’d done so far, they still needed to make a choice in order to save the old world. It would mean Sun Rong losing her other-world memories. Sun Rong assures that even if she doesn’t remember them saving each other, her feelings will still bring her back to Wang Ling. Wang Ling & Sun Rong decide together to put the world to rights. At the Games, Wang Ling’s Dad arrives with a new talisman. Froggy notes that once his emotions are again sealed it will be tough to have a relationship with Sun Rong. But Wang Ling chooses world peace and receives the talisman.
Who is better Wang Ling or Goku?
Yes, I believe Wang Ling can beat goku because goku with mastered ultra instinct could destroy all of his universes, but want ling destroyed and created a new universe as a side effect from him releasing his full power. If he was actually aiming to do something like that then it would be the end.

- Of the 15 episodes, most were exploding with fun with only an occasional dip off the rails.
- Cleverly, the storyline benefits from explainers and details dropped in like bombshells via a dry and unruffled narrator.
- Set in the futuristic world of budding high school cultivators honing their powers, it deftly borrows from existing stories while telling its own tale of the daily trials of bullies, competitions, making friends and relating to parents.
While none of the characters are run-of-the-mill kids, Wang Ling is a law unto his own, with powers much greater than comprehensible. To keep from being forced to ‘demonstrate’ and possibly damage the universe, he keeps his head down, masking his abilities so well his classmates see him as without.
Where students are compared by power in the upper 100’s, Wang Ling is known as ‘Force Value Five.’ Yet even without trying he still manages to collect a few reliable mates. What started as a Chinese-language light novel by author Kuxuan (枯玄), then became a manhua series, the Chinese equivalent to a manga and evolved into its current state as a donghua (anime).
For the dedicated, the light novel currently has 2083 chapters, 1176 of which have been translated into English with more on the way. The manhua appears to be up to chapter 88. Hero-in-training Zhou Yi fights Giant Frog in chapter 1 of ‘The Daily Life of the Immortal King’ manhua. What makes this really enjoyable is the lovely human story about friendship and responsibility. While our immortal king tries to sit still, there’s a wild ride happening around him that sometimes doesn’t land quite as he’s anticipating.
- It’s fairly energetic, as if the animators are aware of only having a short window to tell each chunk of story.
- You can practically taste the energy drink in the room.
- The story, characters, backstories and especially that narrator round out the package.
- Charmingly, the blanket of irreverence is also a device to fill in some of the blanks and a double-nod toward poignant moments.
While we’re given everything – we learn early on about Wang Ling’s power – the mystery lies in the 16-year-old king’s inner secrets that we discover as he begins to trip over them. Here and there, some instalments focusing on various enemies feel more like a bridge rather than a gripping piece of story.
While the pace works at keeping momentum, it sometimes feels like the story is getting away, blazing by without having landed a rich moment. Author Kuxuan is clearly an anime fan, as he tips his hat to a number of star works, probably more than we noted. He uses classic anime technique and storytelling – but infused with a Chinese-coloured view of both the future and of ultimate power.
It’s interesting how some futuristic anime presume either world dominance and/or specifically carved out balances of power among a few leading players, such as with Code Geass (Crunchyroll) or The Irregular at Magic High (Hulu, Crunchyroll). In this, even though our lead holds the world in his hand, there isn’t an indication of what the world or the country looks like beyond ‘Huaxiu’ or if there is anything beyond.
The similarly named Huaxia refers to a federation of tribes in Chinese history dating back to 475–221 BCE (Before Common Era). Known to have heightened self-awareness, the Huaxia are marked out as ‘civilized’ compared to tribes of barbarians existing during that period. Borrowed for the title, Xian, meaning immortal or transcendent, refers to one who achieves divinity through (spiritual) cultivation or practice.
The subtle and chill Xian by Wei En Bo is that repeat-play-worthy opening tune that perfectly represents our ‘hero on the down low.’ Unsurprisingly, some of the standouts of the piece were Wang Ling moments, making you love the kid – like his first smile, running like an airplane and befuddlement in his new world, particularly over the 10 Yuen.
- Froggy had some great moments too, where he gave up his own interests out of respect for the greater power of Wang Ling.
- Hilariously, the narrator kept us captivated with pretty much every word uttered as he informed and explained.
- Without that ever-present character, we would have needed to do a lot more fandom research.
But more importantly he kept our eyes on the prize rather than trying to figure it all out. At the close of Season 1, so many things were resolved yet others left still in question. We’re gratified there’ll be a season 2. Since it appeared on Netflix in some countries, let’s happily presume that the acknowledgment of a season 2 is because Netflix is already in and we can sit back and await it sometime in the near-ish future.
Here’s a trailer to get you ready. Even without translations or a glimpse of Sun Rong, it looks like Wang Ling has again captured the attention of someone powerful, so more action to come. Think that Shadow Faction chauffer is involved? All in all, a rapid-paced super-fun watch with One Punch Man and Saiki K nods as well as other genre grazes along the lines of Harry Potter and The Hunger Games,
You’ll zip thru the 15 20-ish minute episodes and like us, be waiting the for not-soon-enough to come next season. Thanks f or watching along with us. If your thinking on this is completely different, we’d love to hear how and why. Scribble your thoughts below.

Can two brown eyes make hazel eyes?
Is there a way to predict my baby’s eye colour? – Not really. Two brown-eyed parents are likely to have a brown-eyed child, but could potentially have a child with blue, green or hazel eyes, depending on the combination of genes from each parent. Two blue- or green-eyed parents are likely to have a child with blue or green eyes (or a blueish-greenish combo), but it’s possible they will have a brown- or hazel-eyed child.
What color are Shen Qingqiu’s eyes?
Trivia –
His name breaks down to:
沈 Shěn – Liquid 清秋 Qīngqiū – Clear Autumn
The name “Shen Yuan” (沈垣) is similar in pronunciation to “abyss” (深渊/ shēn yuān).
垣 Yuán – Wall
While his birth date is unknown, his death date is noted as September 21, 2014.
In the webnovel, he clearly dies of rage at the lackluster ending of the PIDW novel, but in the donghua, he more specifically chokes on a mantou he’s trying to eat while raging. In an earlier draft of the novel, he died while choking on yogurt, though, as there is no source for this anymore, it may have also been a mistranslation by fans.
Shen Yuan was around 20 years old when he died. In Chapter 50 of the official licensed English translation he states “.(His) three views that have been formed over the past 20 years have been severely impacted” when he discovers Lou Binghe with Shen Qingqiu’s corpse.
His eye color is described as 青 in the novel, which is an old word for green and blue, but more modernly only refers to blue. This causes some confusion among fans. Given the context of the setting in the novel, it very well could be either. Furthermore, his eyes are pretty grey in the donghua. “Blackish green” is another translation for 青, so perhaps that is what it should be interpreted as.
Luo Binghe was not his first kiss. He passed the exam to Beijing University, one the worldwide top research university located in Beijing, China.
What is Wang Lings power level?
Lifting Strength: Class M (Just a single arm of his can lift 1 billion jin which equal 600,000 tons) | At least Class M | Immeasurable.

- They tell a confused Sun Rong that she must be dreaming.
- In the new world, the guys head to the amusement park, Heavenly Paradise.
- They stop to have their fortunes told now with Zhou Yi as the attraction operator.
- It breaks at Wang Ling’s turn – what could that say about his future?
Just as He Bufang emerges as Shadow Faction Leader, a giant hand knocks her several feet into the ground. That’s our Wang Ling, immediately remedying the situation before things spiral. And it’s School 60 for the win to cheers and shouts all around. Before Sun Rong can reach Wang Ling to celebrate and have their moment like in the past, she’s detained by news reporters wanting a soundbite.

Of the 15 episodes, most were exploding with fun with only an occasional dip off the rails. Cleverly, the storyline benefits from explainers and details dropped in like bombshells via a dry and unruffled narrator. Set in the futuristic world of budding high school cultivators honing their powers, it deftly borrows from existing stories while telling its own tale of the daily trials of bullies, competitions, making friends and relating to parents.
It’s fairly energetic, as if the animators are aware of only having a short window to tell each chunk of story. You can practically taste the energy drink in the room. The story, characters, backstories and especially that narrator round out the package. Charmingly, the blanket of irreverence is also a device to fill in some of the blanks and a double-nod toward poignant moments.
Froggy had some great moments too, where he gave up his own interests out of respect for the greater power of Wang Ling. Hilariously, the narrator kept us captivated with pretty much every word uttered as he informed and explained. Without that ever-present character, we would have needed to do a lot more fandom research.
