Why do guys like blondes and blue-eyed girls? – Blue eyes and blonde hair are recessive genes, which means that both parents must have them in order for them to be manifested in their kid. As a result, it has been hypothesized that blue-eyed males choose blue-eyed women as mates because they are more assured of paternity.
This may also explain why most celebrities are attracted to other celebrities – the media focuses on their shared traits so people think they would make good partners. There is also evidence that suggests blue-eyed men prefer women with brown or hazel eyes. Scientists speculate that this may be due to brown eyes being less common than blue ones and thus offering a greater selection of potential partners.
Finally, there is evidence that suggests blue-eyed men seek out blondes because they believe them to be more attractive and fertile. Scientists conducted studies where they showed photos of either blondes or dark-haired women to groups of men. They found that the men preferred the blondes over the dark-haired women.
Do guys prefer blondes with blue eyes?
It’s not just about looks! America’s men describe their ‘perfect woman’ as blonde, with blue eyes – and a graduate degree –
Dating website WhatsYourPrice.com surveyed more than 145,000 men in order to find out what attributes they valued most in a woman Men were asked to attach a financial figure to each quality, with the overall ‘perfect’ combination costing $135.07 Founder and CEO Brandon Wade says the ideal woman ‘must possess both style and substance’
Published: 23:16 GMT, 12 January 2015 | Updated: 01:57 GMT, 13 January 2015 Gentlemen really do prefer blondes. According to new research, the average American male would describe their ‘perfect woman’ as having blonde hair, blue eyes and – perhaps surprisingly – a graduate degree.
The survey, which was conducted by dating auction website WhatsYourPrice.com, also revealed that the majority of men prefer non-smokers, and, in an ideal world, would rather that their date was more of a social drinker, rather than someone who indulged in alcohol on a regular basis. Celebrity status: The average U.S.
male’s ideal woman has blonde hair and blue eyes, like supermodels Gigi Hadid (L) and Candice Swanepoel (R) Each of the 145,000 men who took part in the poll, were asked to attach a specific financial value to each attribute in order to come up with a total ‘cost’ for their ideal first date.
- For example, blonde hair was valued at an average of $59.31, while a slender body came in at $55.43.
- But the most valued attribute of all was a graduate degree; the average price men were willing to pay to date a woman who had boasts a post-graduate qualification was a whopping $59.90.
- ‘The perfect woman must possess both style and substance,’ says Brandon Wade, Founder and CEO of the site.
Blonde ambition: The majority of men surveyed prefer non-smokers who only indulge in alcohol during social situations ‘The study confirms that men are willing to spend just as much on a woman’s intellect and education as her physical qualities.’ Models Gigi Hadid and Candice Swanepoel possess the same physical ideals that were highly ranked throughout the study.
Why is blonde hair and blue eyes so attractive?
Because they’re rare traits. Most of the people in this planet have dark hair and dark eyes so blonde hair and blue eyes have always been considered special. Besides, blonde hair is associated with gold and blue eyes are associated with the sea and the sky and purity.
Do males prefer blondes?
These women both look great, but one is a bad cook who’s shallow. Apparently. Maybe as a lifelong non-blond I should be flattered by this recent survey that men prefer brunettes to blonds when it comes to love and marriage, but their reasoning is so suspect I can’t help but laugh.
They’re “deeper.”They’re more sensible. They take better care of their appearance. They’re good cooks. They’re better at housework. They’re more experimental in bed.
OKKKKK, dudes. If you honestly believe a woman’s hair color has some kind of effect on her cleaning abilities, then A) you have never seen my kitchen floor, and B) why exactly do you need a “deeper” partner? Because, frankly, you kind of sound like an idiot to me.
What eye color are guys mostly attracted to?
While men were 1.4 times more likely than women to wish their partner had a different eye color, both genders favored blue eyes. Surprisingly, green, brown, and hazel were more preferred on a partner than gray eyes which respondents had previously considered the most attractive.
Why do guys find blonde hair attractive?
There’s A Scientific Reason Why Men Are Either Into Brunettes Or Blondes There’s no formal definition of beauty. There never has been. As the cliché goes, “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” It’s not like there’s some systematic outline for what’s beautiful and what isn’t.
- When most people think of beauty – or a face to apply to the word, at any rate – I’ll bet they think of Marilyn Monroe, before anyone else.
- One step further, when people think of Marilyn Monroe, I’d also bet they think of her blonde hair, before all else.
- Monroe’s iconic platinum blonde locks blazed the trail for “blonde bombshells.”
- While I’m sure blonde hair has always been an object of attraction for men, after Monroe’s rise to fame in the early 50s, it became a staple of beauty.
- And, then, the clichés began to pop up – blonde is beautiful; blonde is better; blondes have more fun – and, suddenly, we found this notion of blonde superiority being pushed to the forefront of popular perception.
Personally, I’ve always been a brunette guy. Not to say there’s anything wrong with blondes – I mean, I’d happily settle down with Kate Moss, don’t get me wrong. Having said that, for me, there’s just something about the whole dark hair, dark skin, combination that can’t be touched.
- Well, after coming across a recent study, it appears science provides evidence – despite popular belief – men might actually favor brunettes.
- According to Deborah Arthurs, men find women with darker hair more sexually attractive.
- Based on a poll conducted by social networking website Badoo, in a survey of 2,000 men, more than 60 percent of men reported they prefer “raven-haired” women.
- As shown by the data, around one-third of the men polled claimed to find brown hair the most attractive; whereas, a little under 29 percent of men favored women with black hair.
- Not to cast shade on the red-headed women out there; it is important to note almost 9 percent of men expressed their preference toward redheads.
- A separate study, conducted by Viren Swami and Seishin Berrett, could provide further information on the topic.
- According to their research, which consisted of two different studies, men’s preference regarding blonde or brunette women is a more complex matter than you might have thought.
- The first study employed a female test subject who sat in nightclubs over the course of a few weeks.
- Throughout the experiment, she changed her hair color three times – blonde, brunette, red – while the experimenters “observed and counted how many men approached her during a one-hour period.”
Results showed she was approached most frequently under the blonde hair condition. Compared to the 42 men who approached her while brunette, 60 men expressed interest in her while blonde.
- After simply comparing these two statistics, and applying a little bit of common sense, one would assume men found her more attractive while blonde; however, that might not be the case.
- According to the second experiment conducted by Swami and Berrett, when showed a picture of the same women with different hair colors, men reported they found the brunette version more beautiful.
- This presents a question: If men find brunettes to be more attractive, why did they approach the blonde women more frequently at the bar?
- Swami and Berrett went on to propose the theory that men find blonde women to be more needy.
Thus, they were more approachable in public situations, “possibly because it induced greater feelings of dominance or confidence in, which in turn reduced their inhibition,” as told by Dr. Raj Persaud and Adrian Furnham, One possible reason for this divergence from popular belief comes from a shift in modern ideology.
- According to Maxine Frith, historically speaking, blonde hair has always been viewed as a “symbol of youth that was attractive to men.”
- As women have taken on a larger role in society – since, say, the 1950s when Monroe’s blonde hair reigned supreme – the male scope of beauty has taken on different forms.
- According to research done by the City University of London, and the reported data of 1,500 males included in the study, 81 percent of men described the brunette as “intelligent,” while 67 percent purported she appeared “self-sufficient,” when asked to give their impressions of her personality.
“They are looking for more intense, equal partnerships and appearance has a large role to play,” noted Peter Ayton, the man who led the study. “It is even possible certain hair colours can indicate wealth and experience.” The idea of blondness being linked to youthfulness was examining Polish samples.
Dr. Piotr Sorokowski set up an experimental study exploring male hair color preference. The results of his research showed males did, generally, rate pictures of blonde hair as “more youthful,” and also maintained a preference for these women with regard to overall attractiveness. Needless to say, these polls and surveys provide reason to believe preference in hair color can vary by location.
But whether you prefer someone who has blonde hair, blue hair, rainbow-colored hair, or even if hair color is the very last thing on your mind, it comes down to personal preference. : There’s A Scientific Reason Why Men Are Either Into Brunettes Or Blondes
Does blonde hair make blue eyes stand out?
What hair color makes blue eyes pop? – Let’s be honest: If you have blue eyes, you don’t need much help making them stand out. The right hair color, however, can make your already striking eye color appear even more so. Typically, rich brunette hues, warm blonde, and coppery reds provide the perfect amount of contrast to make blue eyes pop. Good hair day by @michaelkellycolourist,
Why are blondes so desired?
Blonde hair – This one stumped even Darwin, who tried to discover why gentlemen prefer blondes, and eventually gave up, after finding there was no overall preference for the fairer sex. The blonde hair and blue eye combination found in Caucasians is thought to have evolved among northern European tribes around 11,000 years ago.
For tribes who were venturing ever further north with the retreating ice sheets, being blonde would have bestowed an evolutionary advantage. The loss of pigmentation in the skin allows deeper penetration of ultraviolet light needed to synthesise vitamins which were essential for good health. So blondes were more likely to be healthier and live longer.
Some archaeologists suggest that it was a time of great rivalry when men were often killed and women had to compete fiercely for partners. It is thought that Palaeolithic hunters chose blondes because they stood out from their rivals and were more likely to be healthy.
Many women who are blonde go darker as they age, so blonde hair is also viewed as an indicator of youth, and sexual vitality. And, intriguingly, Caucasian blondes usually have slightly higher oestrogen levels than brunettes and are likely to exhibit finer infantile facial features such as a smaller nose, smaller jaw, pointed chin, narrow shoulders, smooth skin and less body hair.
However a recent study w hich attempted to determine the most beautiful women in the world picked a brunette. A 2011 study in the Scandinavian Journal of Psychology, found brunettes are considered more attractive.
What do men find most attractive in a woman?
17 things men find very attractive in women I think it’s obvious what men do not find attractive, but what makes them crazy? All men want to find a woman who has these 17 irresistible qualities: 1. Calmness For the most part, drama queens are usually women.
- And dating a drama queen means lots of gossip, impulsive decisions, emotional conversations and drama in her life and yours.
- Men prefer a woman who can stay calm and relaxed.2.
- Cleanliness Beauty is more than make-up and a fancy haircut.
- Men find women more attractive when they are neat and clean.
- Men find women who smell nice, who have clean hair and hydrated skin more attractive than a face perfectly covered in makeup.3.
Intelligence My cousin once went out with an extremely attractive girl. They only went out once, and then he completely lost interest. I asked him what had happened, and he told me he could not date someone who didn’t even know the name of the country’s current vice president.
- It might sound extreme, but it’s not.
- An intelligent woman shows ambition, awareness and personally knows the value of education.4.
- Caring Instinctively, men and women are attracted to people who could potentially look out for them if something were to happen in the future.
- Most women are born with that instinct already but few show it.5.
Creativity In this case, creativity isn’t a woman’s ability to make crafts and recreate Pinterest projects. Rather, her ability to approach life in a new and exciting way is the type of creativity men are looking for. A man wants a wife who can help him figure out unique solutions to life’s problems.6.
- Discipline Parenting is already a difficult job, but it’s made even harder with a lack of discipline.
- Men are looking for a woman who will uphold the household’s rules and help reinforce their children’s good behaviors.7.
- Loyalty No human being on Earth wants to be betrayed.
- When a man meets a woman, he looks at the way she acts and respects the people she loves.
If she speaks poorly about her friends or tells them she is sick so she can spend time with her boyfriend instead of going out with them, he may not believe she is a good match for him.8. Friendliness If you ask a man why he loves his wife, he might say how she makes friends with everyone or how she treats everyone with respect and kindness.
- Nothing is more seductive than humility and the ability to treat everyone with the same level of respect.9.
- Genuine In today’s world, it’s easy to put up our picture perfect life on social media, but a real man is looking for a woman who is genuine.
- It’s a difficult quality to find, but is extremely attractive once discovered.10.
Maturity Maturity has nothing to do with the age of a person. Mental and emotional maturity is a quality all men are looking for because no one has time to date a childish woman.
- 11. Optimism
- Nothing is more sexy than a person with the ability to see the glass half full, instead of half empty.
- 12. Punctuality
Nobody likes to wait around. Most men understand that most women take more time to get ready, but a woman who is punctual shows she respects everyone else’s time.
- 13. The ability to let go
- It’s good to fight for what you want in life, but wisdom lies in our ability to know when it’s time to let go of what we can not have.
- 14. Romantic
It makes sense that both men and woman are looking for a partner who is at least a little romantic. It’s nice to feel like that spark will always be there because your partner is someone who likes to bring flowers home and plans romantic getaways.
- 15. Respectful
- Respect for him and for others is a characteristic that all men find attractive.
- 16. Compassionate
It’s easy to fall into the habit of always wanting or demanding more. When concentrating on our own needs, we forget to understand others. A compassionate woman is something all men are looking for.
- 17. Loving
- No one wants to be in a relationship where they don’t feel love.

Do blondes attract more attention?
Blondes are more aggressive than brunettes ‘because they attract more male attention’
- By Updated: 11:55 GMT, 18 January 2010
- After years of being the butt of jokes about being dumb, blondes may be having the last laugh after all, research has revealed.
- An academic study has found that women with fair hair are more aggressive and confident than brunettes or redheads.
- This is because blondes attract more attention than other women as they are generally viewed by men as more attractive and so are used to getting their own way, the researchers claim.
Platinum lining: Their blonde hair may have set Celebrity Big Brother contestant Ivan Trump and underwear businesswoman Michelle Mona’s apart
- The study indicated that the more ‘special’ people feel, judged by physical strength for men and looks for women, the more likely they are to get angry to reach social goals.
- The theory might, perhaps, help to explain the success of businesswoman Michelle Mone, founder of the Ultimo underwear brand, and of former Olympic skier, model and current Celebrity Big Brother housemate Ivana Trump.
- The experts found that even those who dye their hair blonde take on natural blondes’ attributes – which might partly explain the longevity of Dolly Parton’s career too.
The country and western singer once said: ‘I’m not offended by all the dumb blonde jokes because I know I’m not dumb. and I also know that I’m not blonde.’ The study, which examined links between confidence and aggression, involved 156 female undergraduates in America. Root of the matter: Dolly Parton has said: ‘I know I am not dumb and I also know I’m not blonde’
- Aaron Sell, of the University of California, who led the research, said: ‘We expected blondes to feel more entitled than other young women – this is southern California, the natural habitat of the privileged blonde.
- ‘What we did not expect to find was how much more warlike they are than their peers on campus.’
- He said he suspected that blondes exist in a ‘bubble’ where they have been treated better than other people for so long they do not realise that men, in particular, are more deferential towards them than other women.
‘They may not even realise they are treated like a princess,’ he said. The study was published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Science. It also found that although blondes are more aggressive, they are less likely than brunettes or redheads to get into an actual fight themselves – possibly to ensure they preserved their looks. Unfair: In her blonde days Ann Widdecombe said: ‘People talk to me more slowly now’
- ‘Maybe responding to their own stereotypes, brunettes tend to work harder and expect less special treatment.
- ‘Women who go blonde quickly get used to the privileges of blondeness – usually male attentiveness.’
- Opinions differ, however, among those who have been on both sides of the blonde divide.
Broadcaster Vanessa Feltz, who admits to dying her hair, has said: ‘I become more battling when I’m blonde. You’re noticed more.’ But when former shadow home secretary Ann Widdecombe went blonde she noted: ‘People talk to me more slowly now.’ : Blondes are more aggressive than brunettes ‘because they attract more male attention’

Do guys prefer long or short hair?
CNN recently shared research that men are most likely to prefer women with long hair past the shoulders. Guys were asked to rate the same women’s faces based upon short, medium-length, plus super long locks. Males rated ladies with longer hair as more attractive.
- But is this just an American pop culture phenomenon? Is it just because long hair has been a beauty standard for centuries or are there other reasons too? First of all we have to consider the time and money long hair requires for its maintenance.
- Having a short hairstyle needs very little commitment to it, considering that the time spent in front of the mirror is only a fraction of the time compared to the time spent when taking care of long hair.
Nearly every Chicago Hair Salon understands style is unique to each person. We thought it might be fun to come up with our own theories. Are you ready? 1) Long Hair Equates to Health. Ombre Long hair clearly needs maintenance and maintenance needs money, so understanding all of that, women with long hair are often considered more wealthy and healthy. Long hair plays a big role in examining other women on their well-being and self-respect.2) Men are conditioned to desire long hair.
- Of course it’s not all about the social or cultural expectations for women’s beauty.
- Evolutionary theories show that there is another reason why men prefer women to have long hair as opposed to short hair.
- Evolution taught us that the quality and length of hair serves as a factor for the genetic strength and overall health, which is even a marker for showing the reproductive qualities of a women.
Many experiments and observations have concluded that long haired women seem healthier than their short haired counterparts. This was especially confirmed in an experiment that involved short haired women being rated and later-on being rated again wearing long hair.
- The result showed that the second run was rated way better than the first one.
- This means that the women with longer hair seemed more attractive.3) Conceals Imperfections.
- Furthermore, long hair is very helpful in hiding less attractive features on a woman’s face.
- It makes the jaw line less proeminent and wide and it also distracts the eye from underdefined cheekbones.
Overall it’s making a women look more feminine and youthful. Here this amazing story of a 50 year old man who had a facelift and now looks 20 years younger.4) Attracts Eyes. Now it’s obviously not only about hiding or perceived health. Men are often attracted to the movement of women’s accessories such as earrings or necklaces.
It gives them a certain flow that seems effortless, chic and feminine. The same thing can be said especially about long hair. It attracts men not only by it’s looks, but by it’s movement.5) Adds Sex Appeal. Another special quality that women with long hair posses is versatility. No matter the event they need to attend, they have a myriad options for their hairstyle.
In terms of men, this translates to a potential partner that not only looks good on his arm but can be proud of. Who doesn’t want a woman who can perfect her apparel with the ideal hairstyle? Not to mention the many glances she will steal. All things considered, men are not only ruled by evolutionary biases when it comes to the opposite sex,
Do men find blue eyes more attractive?
Study finds clues to men’s liking for women with blue eyes
- A new study from Norway finds that eye color may provide clues as to why blue-eyed men prefer women with the same eye color over others.
- Bruno Laeng and colleagues at the University of Tromso, Norway, wrote that blue eye color “can provide a highly visible and salient cue to the child’s heredity.”
- The study was published in the October issue of the Journal of Behavioral Ecology and Sociobiology.
- “If men choose women with characteristics that promote the assurance of paternity, then blue-eyed men should prefer and feel more attracted toward women with blue eyes,” the researchers wrote.
- The brown-eyed gene is dominant and the blue-eyed gene is recessive.
If both parents have blue eyes, their children will have blue eyes. If both parents have brown eyes, their children would probably have brown eyes, but – depending on the genes each parent carries – there is also a lesser chance the children would have other eye colors.
- The researchers concluded, “It is therefore reasonable to expect that a man would be more attracted towards a woman displaying a trait that increases his paternal confidence,” according to the study.
- But Alon Ziv, a former biology professor at the University of California at Los Angeles and an expert on genetics and breeding, blasted the findings, saying that the study failed to include one obvious factor: how children learn dating and relationship cues from parents.
- Ziv explores why people are attracted to certain types in his book Breeding Between the Lines: Why Interracial People are Healthier and More Attractive.
- “There are a lot of studies that have shown that we developed a blueprint of what our ideal mate will look like early on in life,” Ziv said.
In the University of Tromso study, 88 male and female Norwegian college students were asked to rate facial attractiveness of models on a computer using close-ups of young adult faces. Each face had two versions, one with its natural eye color, blue, and the other color brown.

Do blondes look more feminine?
In general, blonde hair has the reputation of being more feminine because of its representation in fables, stories, fairy tales, and films. Blonde hair has historically been linked to a wide range of female movie stars, fairy tale princesses, and famous women.
Is blonde hair sexualized?
Our True Face: Blond stereotypes are rooted in misogyny and need to be eradicated Society’s obsession with blond hair dates back several millennia; Greek and Roman gods and goddesses were often portrayed with golden locks and with them developed a desire to have blond hair and the status associated with it.
- The psychology of being blond, according to Peter Frost, an anthropologist at Laval University in Quebec City, is mostly associated with a human desire to be unique and therefore attract mates.
- Given its roots in seeking male attention, blond hair has become extremely sexualized in and by the media.
- Blond women are perceived “more like an object, are presumed to be dumber, receive less respect, are taken less seriously, and receive aggression more readily than when they are brunettes,” according to Carla Clark, an expert in neuropsychology.
Blond women also put societal pressure on themselves to act a certain way. For example, the popular phrase “blondes have more fun,” which seems to be lighthearted and encouraging, degrades and sets expectations for blonde women to behave a certain way.
The phrase may pressure blonds to act youthful, easy-going, sexy and well, “more fun,” than their darker-haired counterparts. Some women spend hundreds of dollars a year on treatments and products to keep up their bleached look — that’s a lot of money just to be blond, and is an example of the emphasis women put maintaining a specific image.
Perhaps the most well-known blond stereotype, however, is the phenomenon of the “dumb blonde.” The popular trope used as an insult to put down another woman. It originates from the play “Les Curiosités de la Foire,” and was exacerbated by Marilyn Monroe’s often ditzy performances in films as well as in her everyday life.
- We have all heard a blond woman being referred to as dumb, but blond men rarely face the same criticism, which may indicate that this insult was specifically invented to put females down.
- This stereotype was born in misogynistic ideologies that tell women they are not capable.
- This may make blonde women feel like they have to work harder in order to be taken seriously.
Blond is a beautiful hair color; I enjoy the throes of being blond myself. It does, however, come at a social and financial cost and brings with it unfair disadvantages that should be eradicated. One’s hair color is not an indication of status and should not be treated as such.

And while a lot of people might not agree with this at first, there’s a new report that says people with blue eyes are more attractive than their brown-eyed counterparts.
- And yes, science does have something to do with the findings.
- Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and apparently things always come up looking blue.
- A group of researchers at Germany’s University of Regensburg decided to do a study on which eye color is seen as more attractive: blue or brown? Researchers Martin Gründl, Sebastian Knoll, Marita Eisenmann-Klein, and Lukas Prantl asked 80 participants to rate the attractiveness of 60 women aged 15 to 65 by just looking at photos of their eyes.
And while there was no correlation found between iridal color and their rated attractiveness, the researchers did point out one thing: that the participants picked out the color blue more often as a positive aspect than other iridal colors. Also, those with large blue eyes usually have better luck in the love department: blue eyes and larger pupils often correlate with youthfulness, along with being attractive. - Yet, the majority of both men and women found blue to be the most attractive eye color over all.
- If you happen to be a green-eyed beauty though, don’t fret.
- Reports say that the green eye color is the rarest color found around the world, and it is estimated that only around 2% of the world’s population has green colored eyes.
Green eye color is a result of a mild amount of pigmentation in the eye with a golden tint. But if there is one color that happens to be even more rare than green eyes, it’s violet. Elizabeth Taylor was famous for her violet eyes, although in reality she had baby blues.
